COMPANY HISTORY
Gerke Excavating and Allan Gerke & Sons
have been in business for over 65 years and was originally
started by Allan Gerke in 1946. In 1947, he purchased a dump
truck and started hauling for Arthur Overguard. In 1949,
he bought an end loader and started hauling sand and gravel.
Allan's sons, Richard and Paul, started working full time for
the company in 1963 and 1965. Richard and Paul took over
the company in 1978. Paul's sons, Jay and Chad, started
working for the company in 1988 and 1993.
Today the company consists of 150+ units
including 33 dump trucks, 17 dozers, 26 backhoes, 37 loaders, 3
graders, 10 compactors, 15 articulated haul trucks and other
additional equipment. The
company has over 200 employees and continues to grow each year.
Gerke Excavating
is located at the intersection of I-90 and Hwy 131.
Because of company expansation, in 2006 a new 7,000 square foot
office was constructed adjacent to a 50,000 square foot shop
area.
From humble
beginnings, Gerke Excavating has become a well-respected, loyal
construction firm.
